August 14, 2009, Newsletter Issue #15: Requirements In Applying For "Disability"

Tip of the Week

Many people believe that you have to be near death to qualify for Social
Security Disability. This is far from the truth, although qualifying for
unemployment is quite different from qualifying for Social Decurity Disability.

Any medical reason that takes you away from the tasks to which you
are trained to perform or have experience in, can be reason enough for you
to be able to open a claim for unemployment. The difference between that and
disability is that you must not be able to perform many job tasks
and have some difficulty caring for your home and yourself.
You will be required to be unable to perform job duties nor be trained for other
trainable job duties. This applies to medical reasons and psychological reasons alike.
